American Idol made its return to TVs, premiering on ABC after its long home on FOX. Correlating with the start of the season, the show launched its Icon Series, highlighting Grammy winner Mandisa. The beloved season 5 finalist discussed her journey after American Idol, both her musical career as well as her personal life. The series will continue to air throughout this season of American Idol, highlighting select Idol alumni and their achievements since appearing on the show.

TobyMac Announces 2017 “HITS DEEP Tour” After 2016 Tour Finishes in Top 35 Worldwide
Announced on K-LOVE/AIR1, TobyMac shared the diverse line-up for his 2017 "HITS DEEP Tour" including Mac Powell from Third Day, Matt Maher, Mandisa, Capital Kings, Ryan Stevenson and Hollyn who will join him in over 30 arenas across the U.S.
The first venture of this unique partnership with TobyMac, K-LOVE/Air1 and Awakening Events was Spring of 2016-resulting in sold-out shows in 26 out of 29 markets. TobyMac's 2016 "HITS DEEP TOUR" visited arenas nationwide, including stops at Los Angeles' The Forum, Charlotte's Time Warner Cable Arena, Phoenix's Talking Stick Resort Arena, San Diego's Viejas Arena, Portland's Moda Center, Seattle's KeyArena, Denver's Coliseum and Kansas City's Sprint Center, which garnered 12,229 ticketed attendees alone.
According to Pollstar, the 2016 "HITS DEEP Tour" was the biggest tour in Christian music and ranked in the top 35 tours in the world.
Through a partnership with Food for the Hungry, concertgoers sponsored over 15,000 children, providing food, a better education, clean water and medical treatment.

Phil Wickham's "This Is Amazing Grace" Goes Gold
Phil Wickham's "This Is Amazing Grace" was honored with RIAA Gold Certification for both sales and streams of the song off of his 2013 project, The Ascension. The hit single was the most played song on Christian radio for 2014, topping Billboard's 2014 Christian Airplay Song Year End Chart at No. 1. In addition to sales and radio success, the song is No. 2 on the US chart of CCLI, recognizing it as one of the most-often-sung worship songs in the church today.
"I am blown away with how the Lord has used 'This Is Amazing Grace'," says Wickham. "For the song to reach this achievement is such an honor and I'm so grateful."
His project Children of God is expected to release in April 2016.
Wickham is set to tour alongside Newsboys, Jeremy Camp, Mandisa and more on The Rock and Worship Roadshow 2016, presented by Compassion International.

Christian Event Takes Over New York City for the Day
Evangelist Luis Palau told Fox News Latino that it had been his dream from a young age to share the Gospel in New York City, and last weekend, that dream came true.
Palau’s NY CityFest drew an estimated 60,000 people to iconic locations in the Big Apple, including Central Park, Times Square and Madison Square Garden featuring performances by tobyMac, Mandisa, Matt Redman, Third Day, Chris Tomlin, Hezekiah Walker, Israel Houghton and Marcos Whitt.
Former New York Yankee Mariano Rivera was among the speakers.
"I used to play here on the corner in the Bronx for the New York Yankees for many years," he said, "But that’s over. But moving forward, moving to what The Lord wants us to do. Preach the gospel of Jesus Christ."
According to The Christian Post, more than 1,700 churches in the greater New York City metro area worked together to pull off the events, as well as massive service projects that took place that weekend. There also were free events in Times Square and Madison Square Garden.
The artists who participated were humbled and energized by the opportunity, and were grateful to have been a part.
“[I] loved proclaiming that Jesus overcame the world and calls God's children overcomers too!” Mandisa posted on Facebook following her Times Square performance.

The GMA announced today the nominees in 42 categories for the 45th Annual GMA Dove Awards. The awards show will take place on Tuesday, October 7 at Allen Arena in Nashville, TN at 6:30pm CT. TBN will air the awards show.

Mandisa and Natalie Grant Stir Controversy Over Grammy Comments
Grant then ignited a social media explosion when she announced via Twitter her personal decision to leave the Grammy Awards ceremonies before its official conclusion. The unintentional hullabaloo soon prompted Grant to clarify her decision with a statement posted on her official Facebook page.
"It does sadden me when people argue, judge and hurl insults at each other from both sides of the fence," she wrote. "I never pointed out any one particular performance, I only said I had many thoughts about the entire show, which were best left inside my head and that is where they will stay…I won't use my platform to engage in political arguments that will only divide and not unite. I will continue to pray that my life will be my message."
The extensive online discussion only grew with each passing day, drawing close to 115,000 likes, more than 10,000 comments, and a remarkable 14 million-plus Facebook impressions thus far. What's more, Grant's statement surpassed President Obama's State of the Union Address to rank as last Tuesday's #1 Google Trending Search Topic.
At least one Grammy winner made a decisive choice not to attend Sunday night’s award show. In a post on her official Facebook page, Mandisa offered some “brutal honesty” in explaining why she decided to stay home rather than accept the awards in person — and much of her choice centered upon her faith.
While she was grateful and honored to be nominated in the first place, Mandisa explained that she didn’t feel that the Grammys provided a positive environment for her at this time in her life.
Among her reasons for not attending, the singer admitted that she has struggled lately as a Christian living in a world filled with temptation.
“Yes, both times I have gone to the Grammys I have witnessed performances I wish I could erase from my memory, and yes, I fast forwarded through several performances this year; but my reason is not because of them, it’s because of me,” Mandisa wrote. “I have been struggling with being in the world, not of it lately. I have fallen prey to the alluring pull of flesh, pride, and selfish desires quite a bit recently.”
She said that putting herself in an environment that celebrates some of the elements she’s trying to avoid was “risky,” so she decided to stay home, as she is trying to renew her mind “to become the Heavenly Father-centered, completely satisfied with Jesus, and Holy Spirit-led woman” she once was.
While she didn’t get specific about the issues she’s struggling with, Mandisa fully admitted that she’s been hitting some spiritual road bumps.
“Perhaps being alone with Him as my name was announced was protecting myself from where my flesh would have tried to drag me had I been up on that stage,” she added. “It gave me time to focus. With what I do for a living, and the doors that have opened for me to sing about Jesus on mainstream platforms, I take the phrase from John 15:19, ‘be in the world, not of it’ seriously.”
Though she believes God doesn’t want believers to separate themselves from the rest of the world and to avoid sharing their faith, Mandisa highlighted that it is important for Christians to speak differently so that they “shine” and stand apart from others.
The singer also cited that she will be on the road for much of the next 100 days, that she doesn’t enjoy the scrutiny surrounding what she’s wearing and how she looks and that she assumed she might not be victorious in the categories she was nominated in as her reasons for staying home.
But Mandisa isn’t entirely closed off to attending the award show sometime in the future.
“So yeah, should I ever be nominated again, and I’m feeling up to it, I’ll go,” she added. “I recognize that I may feel a bit like an alien in a strange land, but Jesus, friend of sinners, felt that way and still managed to shine…by His Holy Spirit, so can I!”

TobyMac's Nirva Ready to Release Project
I Need You, the debut from leading background vocalists Seth & Nirva, is set to bow on iTunes December 17. The album is highlighted by “All Praise” (featuring TobyMac); the piano-driven title cut (feat. Shonlock); and the hip-hop based “Praise Him” (feat. GabeReal), among other songs.

Beginning his career as a background singer with multi-platinum urban-gospel recording artist Kirk Franklin, Seth Ready has shared the stage with Chris Tomlin, Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans, among others, as a supporting vocalist. Ready currently serves as pastor of young adult ministry at The Crossing Church in Tampa, Florida.

Mandisa to Perform "Stronger" for Robin Roberts' Return to ABC's Good Morning America
On Wednesday, February 20, three time GRAMMY® Nominated artist Mandisa will join the welcome celebration for the return of beloved anchor, Robin Roberts to ABC's Good Morning America.
Mandisa will be on the set to perform her hit song "Stronger" during
the 8 AM/ET hour of the morning show. The powerful anthem "Stronger"
was used by the No. 1 rated program several times last fall when the
show updated the anchor's progress following Roberts' hiatus following a
bone marrow transplant.

Mandisa to Appear on "The Doctors"
Three time GRAMMY® Nominated artist Mandisa will make an appearance on the highly-rated syndicated television show, "The Doctors" tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 25. Mandisa will be on the show to discuss her remarkable 120lb weight loss and career success since American Idol. Since one of her favorite ways to exercise is through Zumba, Mandisa taught The Doctors audience the Zumba routine to her up-beat single, "Good Morning." The audience also received a complimentary copy of Mandisa's highest-selling record to date, What If We Were Real.

As she nears the release of her sophomore project Freedom (3.24), press is ramping up for American Idol Season 5 finalist Mandisa.
Tonight Extra TV talks with Mandisa about her weight loss in a feature about "Shrinking Idols."
Next week, Inside Edition will air an interview with Mandisa from her Nashville home, discussing her workout routine as well as her new CD.
Last week CNN.com ran a feature that was one of its Top 5 read stories on the news giant’s site.
People magazine also profiled Mandisa in an exclusive online feature last week, which both USA Today and CNN picked up. People also showcased her in their BodyWatch feature inside their current issue.
