Josh Turner's 'I Serve A Savior' Debuts at No. 1 Atop Nielsen's Country Albums Chart

Josh Turner's I Serve A Savior earned debut placements across multiple charts, including No. 1 on Nielsen's Country Albums Chart and No. 2 on both Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart and Top Christian Albums Chart. The complementing live performance DVD also secured the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Music Video Chart and Christian Music Video Chart. Praise for the faith-filled project continues to pour in, with Worship Musician calling the album "musically brilliant, yet refreshingly restive" and Music Row applauding the singer's "earthen baritone."

Josh Turner Writes Book on Fatherhood

Country singer Josh Turner has been a "Grammy nominee" and "multi-platinum recording artist." Now, he can add "author" to his list of accomplishments.

Turner's first book, Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family, and Fatherhood, will be published April 29 by Thomas Nelson.

"It's a book full of life lessons, life stories, from my experiences, things I've learned throughout my life, mistakes I've made," says Turner, whose hits include Long Black Train, Your Man and Time Is Love.

Turner says Thomas Nelson approached him about doing a book after People magazine named him the "Hottest Dad in Country Music" in 2011.

"People talk about songwriting being therapy, but, for me, it was great to not have to be hunched over a guitar or be trying to craft a melody along with the words," he says. "I just let the words flow and told stories."

The editing process, on the other hand, "was somewhat of a booger. You have to be really careful how you say things. You want to be able to say things the best you possibly can, to make sure people take the best possible lesson away from the story and not come across as preachy, coarse or harsh."

Duck Dynasty's Jase Robertson penned the book's foreword, writing, "Josh shares from his heart and experiences and is sincerely honest about how God uses us in our strengths, despite our weaknesses."

Turner says he got his advance copy Man Stuff this week. "I looked at my wife, Jennifer, the other night and said, 'Can you believe your husband has a book?' " Turner says. "She was like, 'Yeah, and I think you have more in you.' That made me feel good."

'Duck Dynasty' Family to Appear in 87th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Robertson family of A&E's hit reality television show "Duck Dynasty" will make an appearance at the 87th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade later this month.

The Robertsons will be joined at the parade by a host of other celebrities, including Jimmy Fallon, Kristin Chenoweth, Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri and many more.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, whose motto is "A Holiday Treat for Children Everywhere," was first held in 1924 and was made up of only about a dozen different attractions. This year's spectacle will include, among other things, 30 floats, 11 marching bands, 1,600 dancers and cheerleaders, 15 character balloons and, of course, Santa Clause.

The parrade is expected to be watched by more than 3.5 million people in person and by more than 50 million people nationwide.

The parade doesn't commence until Nov. 28 at 9 a.m. ET, though the Robertsons have already been busy preparing for the holiday season.

Last week the family's Christmas album, "Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas," was released. In addition to performances by members of the Robertson clan, country stars like Alison Krauss, Josh Turner and Luke Bryan also performed on the record.

Willie Robertson, president of Duck Commander, told Reuters last week that his family is proud of the album.

"It is definitely from our perspective of a down-home middle-America Christmas," Robertson told the news wire. "There is some funny stuff and then there is some serious stuff."

Between 55,000 and 60,000 copies of the Christmas album may have been sold in its first week, according to Billboard, and it may land in the top five of the Billboard 200 chart this week. The Billboard 200's top 10 list will be released on Wednesday.

The Civil Wars, Josh Turner Reach Gold

The Civil Wars' 2011 debut album Barton Hollow and Josh Turner's single "Time Is Love" have been certified gold by the RIAA for shipments of 500,000 units each. The Civil Wars also appear with Taylor Swift on the single "Safe & Sound," which reached platinum status in July. Meanwhile, Turner's "Time Is Love" is his fifth gold-certified single, following "Why Don't We Just Dance," "Would You Go With Me," "Your Man" and "Long Black Train."

Josh Turner Not Afraid To Share His Faith

 Not every person called to a career in music is called to be a Christian artist. Just ask Josh Turner. A devout believer and double-platinum selling country star, the influence of Turner’s faith and family is woven throughout his music, beginning with his 2003 debut hit “Long Black Train.”
 
Though some artists who make a living courting mainstream consumers are sometimes a little hesitant to talk about their faith, Turner has no qualms.

When asked why it’s important to him to write and record songs that express his faith, Turner told gmc,

“Because that’s a part of who I am. I’ve always tried to be who I am. I’ve never claimed to be a preacher. I’m not trying to preach to people, but at the same time, I’m commissioned to speak the name of Jesus and that’s a huge part of me, so if I leave that part out of my music, I’m leaving a part of myself out that is very important... It is a very conscious decision so there’s [sic] several songs on this record that lean to the spiritual side of things. I’m a very spiritual person. Some people refer to my faith as a religion and it’s not a religion. It’s more of a relationship.”

Country artist Josh Turner will play George Beverly Shea in "Billy: The Early Years," a film about evangelist Billy Graham's start that's due out Oct. 10.
