Stryper's Fallen Tops Charts
With the October 16th release of their ninth studio album, Fallen, Stryper continues to dominate the hard rock/heavy metal scene. The release landed at #2 on Billboard’s Hard Music Albums chart, #2 on the Contemporary Christian Albums chart, #5 on the Current Rock Albums chart, and #44 on the Billboard Top 200.
In addition, Fallen soared to #1 on the iTunes Top Metal Albums chart and #3 on the iTunes Top Rock Albums chart immediately upon release.
"We are truly blessed to still be making music 32 years into our careers, music that relates and speaks to our fans worldwide,” says frontman and album producer, Michael Sweet. “We strive to outdo ourselves with each release and hopefully we've done that with Fallen. Here's to 32 more years!"
The Associated Press recently decreed, "If this were 1986, this album would easily sell 2 million copies. But it's not, and that's a shame, because 2 million people need to hear how good this album is."
Metal Onslaught Magazine recently raved in their first ever 10 out of 10 review, “Like a fine wine Stryper have improved over time and have become legends in the metal genre,” and CCM Magazine declared, “Arguably the most game-changing Christian rock band in history, Stryper continues to excel with a steady stream of new music that fits right alongside a ten million-album selling catalogue.”
The music video for the single, “Pride,” premiered exclusively at Billboard.com and can be seen here: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/6730798/stryper-pride-video-premiere-fallen-album-exclusive
Stryper is one of the top Christian rock bands of all time. Rocking since 1984, the band is responsible for such '80s metal classic albums as Soldiers Under Command, To Hell With The Devil and In God We Trust. In fact, Stryper is the first band to ever have two songs in MTV’s Top 10 simultaneously with their hits “Free” and “Honestly.” After a sabbatical for much of the 1990's, Stryper returned strong in the early 21st century. To date, the Dove Award-winning and Grammy nominated band has sold over 10 million records worldwide.

Stryper to Release 9th Studio Album October 16
Stryper is set to release their 9th studio album, Fallen, October 16. The title track “Fallen” can be heard via YouTube. The original lineup comprised of Michael Sweet (vocals/guitars), Oz Fox (guitars), Tim Gaines (bass) and Robert Sweet (drums) returns with an album of all new material showcasing the musicianship that garnered them a huge fan base in the mainstream world and the Christian market. From the opening choral refrains of “Yahweh” to the signature vocal scream at the end of “King Of Kings,” it is apparent that Stryper is back with their heaviest and most inspired work to date. Fallen was produced by Michael Sweet.
“Fallen is about Lucifer before he became Satan. It’s the story of how he got kicked out of Heaven. He tried to overthrow God and take over,” describes Michael Sweet. “The song talks about how beautiful he was. When he walked, there was music. He was the angel of worship and this incredibly powerful and beautiful being.”
The latest song comes on the heels of the album teaser track, “Yahweh,” that was released last month and has been listened to over 135K times since it went live. “Yahweh” was a musical writing collaboration between Michael Sweet and Sevendust’s Clint Lowery. Tracks like “Pride,” “Big Screen Lies” and “Til I Get What I Need” show that Stryper is back and better than ever. Stryper offers their unique interpretation of the Black Sabbath classic “After Forever.” The band flexes their softer side on the instantly memorable “All Over Again” which continues the journey Stryper fans began almost 30 years ago when “Honestly” was released to mainstream success.

Michael Sweet to Release Band Project with Members of Dokken, White Lion and Whitesnake
Frontiers Records announced a yet unnamed new band project featuring Stryper's Michael Sweet, former Dokken and Lynch Mob axeman George Lynch, former White Lion bass player James Lomenzo and ex-White Snake drummer Brian Tichy.
Stryper frontman Michael Sweet talked in-depth to Noize In The Attic about his new solo CD I'm Not Your Suicide, his autobiography Honestly, a live Stryper DVD, his upcoming project with George Lynch and more.
The free podcast is available (the interview starts at the 31 minute mark).
Sweet: "I just finished up an album with George Lynch. It's a great vibe, it's different for me. Eighty percent of the record reminds me, if you got in to a time machine and went back to 1978. It's a real classic rock kind of a vibe. It worked and I'm excited for people to hear it."

Stryper's No More Hell To Pay on November 5
Iconic rock band Stryper's new studio album, 'No More Hell to Pay' will be released November 5 in two formats - standard CD and deluxe digipak featuring exclusive video content.
Produced by frontman/guitarist Michael Sweet, the set features some of Stryper's strongest and heaviest material ever. Sweet commented, " 'No More Hell to Pay' marks our 30 year anniversary and what a journey it has been! It's our eleventh studio release since our first album in 1984 and it's quite possibly our best record to date. Why? It's everything you might expect from a Stryper record - high octane vocals, layered vocal harmonies, guitar solos galore, driving drums and bass and an energy that hasn't been achieved since our glory days. The message is equally as powerful as it offers hope and inspiration to anyone listening. If you're a Stryper fan, it'll make you proud to be one. If you're not, listen with caution as you may actually become one. We've been waving the striped flag for 30 years and we're proud to say that it's an honor to still be making music with you and for you. The best is yet to come and it's coming November 5th!"
Stryper is one of the top Christian rock bands of all time. Comprised of the original line-up of Michael Sweet (vocals/guitar), Oz Fox (guitar), Tim Gaines (bass) and Robert Sweet (drums), Stryper has been rocking since 1984, and is responsible for such '80s metal classic albums as Soldiers Under Command, To Hell With the Devil, In God We Trust and such MTV hit singles/videos as "Calling on You," "Free" and "Honestly." After a sabbatical for much of the 1990's, Stryper returned strong in the early 21st century. To date, the band has sold upwards of 8 million records worldwide and is a Dove Award-winner and GRAMMY nominee. Stryper is the first band to have two songs in MTV's Top 10 simultaneously.

Stryper to Kanye West: If God Is On Your Album...Prove It
Michael Sweet, lead singer of Stryper, has responded on Facebook to the controversy caused by a TMZ article:
He's referring to the closing paragraph:
"I was approached by TMZ to comment on what I thought about Kanye referencing God as a featured artist on his new record. Those of you who know me, know that I have a sense of humor and it can be quite dry at times. If you read the article you'll see that is all seriousness I understand what Kanye was trying to convey. And then, in typical MS form, I clown around a little bit to lighten things up.
If this article has offended you to the point of denouncing the band then I really don't know what to say. I have no words and that's saying a lot coming from a man of many words.
It was a simple article that was meant to be encouraging and comical. Read it again and maybe you'll understand it a little better.
In love and in Christ,
M"
He's referring to the closing paragraph:
But Sweet says if Kanye means it literally -- and let's face it, he probably does -- he wants details, like ..."I've always wondered - is God a drummer, a bassist, a guitarist or a singer? I'm guessing The Master of all ..."

We've hooked up with some great people - we've got new management, a great album, a great label. We just feel like everything is coming together, and hopefully some big things are to follow."

STRYPER Frontman Says People Who Liked 'The Covering' Will Love 'Second Coming
Hard rockers Stryper will release a collection of re-recorded versions of the band's classic songs in March via Frontiers Records. Entitled "Second Coming", the CD will contain a total of 16 cuts — two from "The Yellow And Black Attack", six from "Soldiers Under Command", six from "To Hell With The Devil", as well as two new tracks, "Bleeding From Inside Out" and "Blackened".
Stryper frontman Micheal Sweet addressed the obvious question: "Why did we re-record old songs?" That's a multiple-answer question.
Stryper frontman Micheal Sweet addressed the obvious question: "Why did we re-record old songs?" That's a multiple-answer question.
"First, because we wanted to cut out the middle men and have a little more control over our own songs.
Second, we wanted to 'fix' some things that have annoyed the 'hell' out of us for the past 30 years such as: no bass in the mix of 'The Yellow And Black Attack' or 'Soldiers Under Command', and no Tim [Gaines, bass] on the mix of 'To Hell With The Devil'. The fact that I sound a little more like a man instead of a helium-induced kid at Disneyland. :-) The sheer joy of still loving these songs and still being able to perform these songs (well, we'll let the experts be the judge of that). And last but not certainly least? We did it just because we wanted to :-)
So there you go, the mystery is over and the reasons have been revealed.
Seriously, we're really excited about this record. It's one of the few re-records that I believe will stand against any of the originals if not surpass them.
If you liked 'The Covering', you'll love 'Second Coming'!"

Michael Sweet Announces New CD and Departure from Boston
Michael Sweet tweeted yesterday that he "Booked studio time today for the solo record! Will begin recording in December. It'll be a follow up to "Truth" w/lots of guitars."
Last month he announced that he was departing legendary rock band Boston to devote full attention to his longstanding role as frontman of re-emerging legendary metal band Stryper.
Sweet joined BOSTON in 2008, sharing lead vocals and playing guitar on a headlining tour of North America, performing the band's classic hits like "More than a Feeling," “Peace of Mind,” “Amanda” and “Don't Look Back.”
Following the BOSTON tour, Stryper released the 2009 studio album Murder by Pride (featuring a cover of BOSTON’s "Peace of Mind"), which led to a yearlong world tour with all of the original members. In 2010, Stryper released The Covering, and another world tour recently concluded. Stryper is currently in the studio working on an untitled release for 2011.
Stryper has sold more than 8 million albums worldwide. The group’s unprecedented 1986 album To Hell with the Devil went double-platinum and was named one of the “100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music” by CCM Magazine.

Stryper Marks Milestone with New CD and 25th Anniversary Tour
Stryper released their new studio album, Murder By Pride, which was released today - twenty-five years to the day after the release of their debut EP, The Yellow and Black Attack.
The band will kick off a 25th Anniversary Tour in September, touring throughout the U.S. before heading out on an international run in early 2010. In addition to their hits and fan favorites, Stryper will perform songs from their latest studio album Murder by Pride.
The tour will be a two set show. The first set will be new Stryper material and include current bassist Tracy Ferrie, along with original members Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet and Oz Fox. The second set will feature all four original members, including original bassist Tim Gaines, wearing new yellow and black stage outfits from the original designer and performing the band's hits from the last twenty-five years.
The 25th Anniversary Tour will be a family project, with Michael Sweet Jr.'s band Flight Patterns opening all dates. Flight Patterns' debut album will be released this fall on Fifty Three Five Records.
Murder by Pride includes a cover of the BOSTON song "Peace of Mind" (featuring BOSTON founder, guitarist and songwriter Tom Scholz on the recording). Ironically, Stryper had recorded "Peace of Mind" and planned to include it on Murder by Pride long before Michael Sweet was asked to join BOSTON on vocals and guitar for their 54-city headlining tour of North America in summer 2008.
