Michael W. Smith to Perform on Good Morning America

Michael W. Smith will perform live on ABC-TV's Good Morning America Tuesday, March 13. The appearance was sparked by his two, back-to-back hit albums A Million Lights and Surrounded out now.

Together, the new albums have become Michael's 30th and 31st Top 10 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, more than any other solo artist in history.

Released Feb. 16, Michael's USA Today, Billboard, Yahoo! Music-acclaimed studio album, A Million Lights, debuted at No. 1 on the SoundScan Christian retail chart while holding the No. 1 position most of release week on iTunes and Amazon's Christian music charts. The recording includes the lead single/video and title track along with "Love Always Wins," "Crashing Waves," "Revolution" and "Footsteps," which was recently added to Spotify's "Top Christian" and "New Music Friday Christian" playlists. Apple Music also featured the album in their "The Hottest New Music" newsletter.

One week following A Million Lights, Michael's anticipated, live worship album Surrounded released (Feb. 23) amidst 5-star acclaim and became Amazon's No. 1 "Hot New Release." The recording features the declarative "Surrounded (Fight My Battles)," "Light To You" and "Build My Life," which Michael also released as a video Feb. 23 on his Facebook and YouTube sites. Parade says the album highlights Michael's "masterful blend of uplifting messaging, brilliant song writing, solid musical talent and a desire to instill faith and hope into his listeners."

Parade will also highlight both of Michael's new albums during a live-stream "Backstory: Music and Conversation with Michael W. Smith" event to be held Monday, March 12 beginning at 7:00 pm EDT from The Cutting Room in New York, NY.

The new albums were further highlighted in an hour-long "Praise" feature on TBN that can be viewed now at TBN.org, while CBN's "The 700 Club" featured Michael and his new projects Feb. 22.

Is 'Bachelor' Star Ben Higgins' Christian Faith Being Downplayed on Hit Reality Series?

Even though this season's star of ABC's popular reality series has conveyed his Christian beliefs in his private life, on social media and even in a blog for People magazine, one fan contends the show is concealing his faith.

"Athough you would never know it if you consume 'The Bachelor' only through the show itself, he [Higgins] seems to be an evangelical Christian," writes one Slate blog contributor. "On the show itself, spirituality gets only the most fleeting, veiled references and dog whistles."

If the portrayal of Higgins' Christian faith is in fact minimized on "The Bachelor," perhaps it is because there is no need to emphasize what has already been made obvious by the star.

Higgins previously talked to People about how his personal boundaries on the show are influenced by his faith, and about the infamous Fantasy Suite where couples go to get one-on-one time.

Candace Cameron Bure In Final Negotiations to Join The View as Co-Host

After multiple guest-hosting stints on The View, Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris are in talks to join the show in a more permanent capacity, Variety reported yesterday.

According to the site, the Fuller House actress and the GMA Weekend co-anchor are in "final negotiations" to become co-hosts for Season 19, alongside veteran panelist Whoopi Goldberg and fellow newcomers Raven-Symone and Michelle Collins.

Per Variety, Faris would keep her GMA Weekend job, appearing on The View Monday through Thursday. Bure, meanwhile, is still figuring out her schedule, but could spend some weeks on The View in New York, and others on Netflix's Fuller House, which shoots through November in L.A.
Both stars — like Symone and Collins, who were announced as official co-hosts in June and July, respectively — have filled in at The View multiple times over the past few months. The show has gone through several casting changes since its premiere in 1997.

Bure made a memorable appearance on the series earlier this month, when she and Symone butted heads over the Oregon bakery that refused to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple, and was then fined $135,000.

"I don't think this is discrimination at all. This is about freedom of association," the Full House alum said during the July 7 debate. "It's about constitutional rights. It's about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with."

Symone's response? "I refuse to associate with you right now!"

Candace Cameron Bure Makes Waves on The View

When actress Candace Cameron Bure defended on “The View” the Christian owners of an Oregon bakery who refused to make a cake for a gay wedding, an audible gasp from one of the co-hosts immediately followed.

Discussing the divisive case, the star revealed she doesn’t think what the bakery did amounts to 'discrimination.' It quickly became clear she was outnumbered on the issue.

“This is about freedom of association, it’s about constitutional rights, it’s about First Amendment rights,” she added. “We do have the right to still choose who we associate with.”

Bure argued the owners of Sweet Cakes By Melissa didn’t refuse to bake the cake simply because the customers were lesbians. In fact, she said, “they baked cakes for them previously.”

“They had a problem with the actual ceremony because that, the ceremony, is what conflicted with their religious beliefs,” Bure said.

Co-host Raven-Symone strongly disagreed, claiming the bakery discriminated against the couple based on their 'sexual orientation' and compared the case to past discrimination of black people.

Bure ended her argument by saying, “Here’s the other thing that I really wish we could do as a society, as a culture, as a country, is to respect that we have opposing views.”

Winter Jam in Atlanta Adds Sadie Robertson

Winter Jam 2015 Dome Spectacular added Duck Dynasty star and Dancing with the Stars contestant Sadie Robertson to the lineup for Atlanta on February 7. Winter Jam is a 47-city, three month tour.

Sadie is no stranger to the spotlight. She was cast into the limelight as a star on A&E's reality show, Duck Dynasty. Known for her dimples and engaging smile, this 17-year-old high-schooler is more than a pretty face. A popular motivational speaker, Sadie spends her summers on mission trips and speaks at Christian youth camps sharing her message "to live original" as a Christian young person today. She recently competed on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, collaborated on a formal dress line in time for spring prom, and has written a book called "Live Original: How the Duck Commander Teen Keeps It Real and Stays True to Her Values."

"Our very first Dome Spectacular in Atlanta last year was such a phenomenal success with nearly 30,0000 fans and the addition of quality guest artists and celebrities, that it created a daunting task for us to try to top," said Troy VanLiere, tour producer. "But with the announcement of Sadie Robertson being added to our already stellar line-up, we are well on our way! Her character, integrity and the way she lives out her faith for the entire world to see on both Duck Dynasty and Dancing with the Stars is a perfect "heart-match" for Winter Jam. She'll be a big hit on the Winter Jam stage and something people won't want to miss. Plus there is more to come..."

In addition to Sadie Robertson making a guest appearance in Atlanta, the Winter Jam Dome Spectacular lineup will include Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Francesca Battistelli, Building 429, Family Force 5, NewSong, for King & Country, and evangelist Tony Nolan. The LifeWay Christian Stores Pre-Jam Party will also showcase performances by Blanca, About A Mile, and VERIDIA.
Winter Jam Tour Spectacular is a $10 at the door concert and no tickets are required. The Winter Jam event in Atlanta - hosted at the Georgia Dome for the first time in 2014 - has been aptly dubbed Winter Jam Dome Spectacular for the day. In 2014, the Atlanta event set a Winter Jam attendance record by attracting nearly 30,000 people.

Sadie Robertson Earns 2nd on Dancing with the Stars

Alfonso Ribeiro took the Mirrorball Trophy on a wildly close Nov. 25 season finale of "Dancing With The Stars," leaving Sadie Robertson in second place.

This season has been one of the most competitive, which judges noted during finals yesterday and tonight.

The finale began with "Road to the Finals," a special, one-hour presentation of all that led to tonight's big announcement. Each of the couples heading into the finale had their time to shine, with packages on their favorite performances, turning points, judges' commentary, answers to viewer questions and fun facts.

During Robertson's portion, country stars Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean gave her thumbs-ups. Her family -- celebrities in their own rights thanks to "Duck Dynasty" -- also chimed in.

"She's getting up in front of literally millions and risking falling down or not being very good, and that speaks well for her," said her Uncle Si Robertson. "She's turned into a very well-rounded and extraordinary woman."

The judges offered comments on her innocence and lightness, which they said is so refreshing for the show.

"She is the youngest of our competitors, and she has held her own from the beginning," said judge Bruno Tonioli.

Robertson has impressed fans around the country throughout the season with her loyalty to her standards and to God. Her “light” has even caught the attention of the show’s judges.

“There is a light that you have that just shines so much,” Julianne Hough said after Robertson’s performance last week. “People take that light. ... It’s just so infectious.”

Robertson posted the comment on her Instagram account and called it “the most rewarding comment of the season,” and added “all glory to God for everything.” Robertson also included her own take on Hough's observation: “We know what that light is: ‘You will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the message that gives life’ (Philippians 2:15-16)."

Hough is not the only judge who has recognized Robertson’s light.

“You’re just a bright light,” Carrie Ann Inaba told Robertson following her freestyle dance during part one of the finale Monday night. “And you’re a brighter light now because you dance so much better.”

Before her dance last week, a video package was shown of a young Sadie Robertson delivering a sermon. Robertson later posted an extended cut of the video on Twitter. It includes what could be considered foreshadowing.

“If I was famous ... I would still love the Lord,” young Robertson tells the camera. “I would not just remember about myself. I would love the Lord.”

Duck Dynasty's Sadie Robertson Stuns ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Judges

“Dancing With the Stars” kicked off the show’s latest season last night with “Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson taking to the dance floor and stunning the judges.

The 17-year-old danced the cha cha, with parents Willie and Korie Robertson watching from the crowd. And the response to her first performance with partner Mark Ballas was incredible.

“Duckling no more! Here we have a bird of paradise,” proclaimed judge Bruno Tonioli.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba added, ”You’re a star, honey. You don’t even know it yet.”

Watch Sadie’s dance below:

The “Duck Dynasty” family has become known for their overt Christian faith in recent years including the family praying at the dinner table at the conclusion of each episode of the show.

And it seems Robertson isn't planning to stop talking about and showing her faith. In footage that aired on “Dancing With the Stars” before her performance, she was seen praying with her family.

Candace Cameron Bure Says Her Life Revolves Around Christ, Gets Cheers From Dancing With the Stars Audience

Candace Cameron Bure has continued to make it known that she won't be donning skimpy outfits on Season 18 of Dancing With the Stars. On Monday, the Full House alum received huge support from the audience when she once again spoke about her values and Christian faith during her pre-taped rehearsal footage.

"I'm a Christian. My life revolves around my relationship with Jesus Christ," Bure, 37, said before dancing the rumba with partner Mark Ballas. "So with the overall tone of the dance and the costumes I'm not going to take a backseat. My voice will definitely be heard."

When Bure mentioned her faith, "the entire crowd in the ballroom cheered and clapped really loudly," an onlooker told Us Weekly. She also had several family members attending the live show.

In the ABC clip, Bure and Ballas, 27, also discussed with the show's costume designers what vision they had for their dance. However, when Ballas said he would like to go shirtless, Bure quickly jumped in.

"Not without my permission! No, I have to think about that," she said. "This rumba is not a sexual dance," she added in her one-on-one. After Cameron Bure nixes Ballas' plans to go shirtless, he replies, "You're worse than Bristol Palin. And she was bad."

"This rumba is not a sexual dance," Cameron Bure justifies. "It's a sensual emotional dance. Sensual is more sexy than raunchy sexy, so I think this is going to be a beautiful dance," she said of the rumba, which the duo performed to tune of "Say Something."

After last week's season premiere, Bure opened up to US Magazine about her modest wardrobe choices. "I won't be the sexiest one out there. I am a mom and I want to be a good role model for my children and my husband," she told Us at the time. "I think for each dance we'll wear what reflects the dance but in the most classy way possible."

Candace Cameron Bure hasn't been shy in the past when opening up about her 'submissive' role in her marriage, so how does the former Full House star justify shaking her stuff on a sexy show like Dancing With the Stars?

"You know, I feel like a sexual woman...I've been married for 18 years," the mother of three responded when host Erin Andrews asked the star how she balances her religious beliefs while performing a sexy dance. "I am a sexual woman. But, you know, I want to reserve certain things for my husband. So we did, I think, the best that we could with the rumba that I still felt comfortable doing."

"I'm a Christian. My life revolves around my relationship with Jesus Christ, so with the overall tone of the dance or the costumes, I'm not going to take a backseat. My voice will definitely be heard," the conservative star says in the clip.

Candace Cameron Bure to be on Dancing with the Stars

"Dancing With The Stars" returns for its 18th season and the new crop of celebrity competitors may be the fiercest yet.

Fresh off their gold-medal win at the Sochi Olympics, Meryl Davis and Charlie White headline the star lineup, as well as Drew Carey and swimming legend Diana Nyad.

Former "Full House" actress Candace Cameron Bure, "The Wonder Years" star Danica McKellar and Australian pop singer Cody Simpson are among the other celebs with their eyes set on the mirrorball trophy.

In two "Dancing" firsts, double-amputee snowboarding champ Amy Purdy, who lost both of her legs as a teenager and pushed to become a world-champion adaptive snowboarder, will be the first Paralympian to compete. Sean Avery is the first former hockey player in "Dancing" history.

Some Networks upset with A&E for 'caving' on Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson's Comments

A&E was quick to reinstate Phil Robertson on "Duck Dynasty" following last month’s controversy over comments he made to GQ magazine about homosexuality. Now an insider tells Fox News there is still heat on the network for their about face.

According to a well-placed source, higher-ups at several networks – including executives at both ABC and CBS – remain hopping mad with A&E for “caving” to the backlash from "Duck Dynasty" fans.

"Several high-ranking executives have expressed upset over the way this all played out. The network execs think that in allowing Phil to come back so quickly and seamlessly, without apology, sets a bad standard,” the source told Fox News. “The standard being that talent can say whatever offensive thing they want about gay people or other groups and get away with it. No consequences.”

Fox News was also told that power players at both ABC and CBS are annoyed – and were quite frankly “shocked” – that the Robertson family patriarch was suspended for just a week and welcomed back so warmly.

"It's all about money. I guess many feel that A&E should have taken a stronger stand,” added the source. “Where do moral standards go from here? Does this now mean stars can say whatever offensive things they want under the guise of freedom of speech, without repercussion?”

One industry pro says things could have been far worse for the cable channel if A&E had not backed down and brought Robertson back.

“At the end of the day, entertainment is big business and clearly A&E decided that ‘this too shall pass.’ Sometimes avoiding the major news as would have occurred has they fired him would have been more damaging to their brand then simply having Robertson continue on,” noted Ronn Torossian, CEO of 5WPR. “Not all press is good press.”
